Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

No - she was from a "Araucana" bin from Tractor Supply, lol.

I'm always happy to share more pictures of my chickens! ;)

She is lovely! I do hate how they mislabel Easter Eggers as Araucanas or Ameraucanas. I keep purebred Araucanas, so it is a sore spot of mine when I see hatcheries advertizing what is obviously not the breed I love! EEs are great birds, they just need to be labeled as EEs! So many people get confused when hatcheries call them the wrong thing.

Quote: Me Too....Our local mill does that, and we have had some lively discussions about their misrepresentations.
So I call them ArauKindas.

That fuzzy stage is hilarious!!! Thanks for the pics Nigellas!

As for Turkey's, TSC dose not carry them at least here in MI. Management/corporete says no. So if a store has them... I dont believe they should. I know our store never will. But a guy close by in columbiaville "duck n coop" has lots
Thanks, I called FFH in Almont here and they said they are getting 15 BBB and 15 BBW in tomorrow. So I am gonna run and grab 1 of each. Thanksgiving and Christmas and see which one is better.

No minimum at all. I got 4 chicks my 1st visit, 2 chicks my 2nd visit and tomorrow will be the last visit for the 2 turkey's, I hope. lol

Can any one help me? Think this may be a little roo. This is one of my amercauna chicks.

Usually the silver onez are boys. Look for red bands popping up in the shoulder. Usually gold ones like your other pic are hens; just watch the shoulders on her too. His comb seems red already too. Combs don't get red on a hen until she's old enough to lay-ee's are notoroius for waiting the longest to lay but their beautiful eggs make up for it! If you can get to my home page you can see my old pet silver roo. He was probably the prettiest i've had yet. The blue and red roos are pretty but those beetle green feathers against the clean white...

What did i get an award for? On my phone. Being persistantly talkative?? Lol
