Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Looks like we have a matching dog/Easter Egger set. ;)
That should be pic of the week, what's the chances they could match soooo perfectly.

I've just tried an unconventional treatment that seems to have obliterated the lice my chooks had.
Thread on HT if you're interested.
I read the whole thread, very interesting. It almost seems to easy and no withdrawl time. Glad it worked for you, I wrote it down to try if i get lice here ever again. We had it last fall and it was not fun dusting the birds and coop and then repeating 10 days later, this would be an easier way for sure.

So tired of the rain and mud in the runs. I don't miss winter whatsoever, but the snow was better in the runs than all this rain.

I even have a good section tarped off and it's still soaked under there. O, how I wish for summer.

Amy, what chickens??? Lol

Urchytil, that is not mucus. That is the poop trying to pass. Take a turkey baster and squirt olive oil UP INTO the vent. Gently rub the egg from the outside- gloved inside if you dare. She will die within a day of that "mucus" turning green- liver failure. You only have a couple days. She needs a liquid/ mush diet asap as solids will not pass! I am so sorry; i lost a broody to constipation before. Grass helps things pass easier i learned.

Spent yesterday with my old farmer friend. First a quick trip to Chelsea for his doctor appointment and then back to the farm to tackle the yard work. My best friend came out to give us a hand and I certainly was appreciative of that. Bob tackled the weed eating while I applied weed and feed to the lawn. The farmer started mowing and then when I finished with the fertilizer I took over. The area around the house and barns creates about 2 acres of lawn so it takes a while. Many portions are quite steep and I was thankful that the seat has handles to keep me on the tractor. It was just starting to rain when we finished.

Then when I arrived home I swear I could actually hear the grass in my yard growing. I just cut it Saturday and it is already in need of mowing. I had hoped that I would be able to mow today but unless I attach pontoons it will be impossible.

Love the colors what breed is he/she(dog) he is very good with them

Everything is greening up here. It seems my lilac transplants survived the winter. My roses all died off but there are new shoots coming up so they may survive after all. Does anyone have experience in transplanting small pine trees? We would like to move some on our property.
your roses may not come back same color if they were grafted, I read an article last winter on growing roses in Alaska, he put extra dirt a few inches up the rose bush for winter. I tried it this past winter and didn't lose 1

just read the post on copper sulfate, sounds very worth trying

The Senate Hearing was adjourned just as I was getting wound up. They broke to attend another meeting and I was told that I could continue then but I had to leave with my driver. She is presenting tonight in Jackson on the affect this change is having on small farmers.

The hearing reconvened but then adjourned again around 1:00. Since a number of people did not get a chance to speak they will schedule another hearing soon. I'll let you know when that will be.
