Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Been there too. I was working as an apprentice in a sewing factory. my job was cutting out giant stocking patterns. I made the mistake of holding the material just right between my fingers and sliced right clean through the webbing of my thumb/index finger about 1/2' long. I could see blue and red. Ick. Yes, I passed out, when I woke up it was bandaged and I was sent home for the day. Nothing was ever said again. I was 17. It healed I don't remember getting stitches and today there is really no scar.
I did the same thing cutting leather. I had special shears that I used just for leather and they did a fine job on my hand.
Then at another shop I cut the end of my finger off with an electric stack-cutter.
Never sewed my fingers together like a co-worker did.

Needless to say I didn't keep my job very long. I was a liability. LOL
Holy cow, I have never used one of those. I think I'll pass.

maah, how did you do at fair?

tntchix, how is your hand? cat scratches are the Worst for infections

Thanks for asking. It seems to be fine for now, but everyone has told me to watch for a probable infection. I had a nurse friend look at it and she says it probably needed a stitch but to skip the whole stitch thing next time to get steri strips and keep it covered.

P.S. the cat's new name is Ginsu.

DH de-gloved his hand once upon a time....

I darn near cut my pinky off with a crisco lid (metal insert) sticking my hand in the trash can to push stuff down... Went half way around the base of my pinky to the bone. I just used steri strips to keep it together. But a cut by a cat can be pretty nasty.. keep a good eye on it!
