Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Geesh. I keep getting pushes on my phone of all the freeway closures due to accidents. I94 near Battle Creek closed both directions for a 90+ (Edit: 115) pile up. AND, now they are evacuating a 3 mile radius around that one due to a possible hazmat situation...

I shall not complain anymore today as I am safe, warm & snug in my house..DH is doing the errands

I cleared the snow from the driveways this morning and cleared a path from the house to the chicken coop and that has more than filled what craving I might have had to shovel snow. There was a time that winter was something I looked forward to. Ice fishing, cross country sking, snowshoeing, rabbit hunting, were all enticements to get me in the outdoors. Now even venturing out to water the chickens is something to dread.

The gal that let me have my coop at her house was kind enough to feed and water my ees today. I am staying in! My mini pair is thus far dead silent. I am pretty sure that maurice knows the gig, and is just grateful to be warm. I wish i could bring the other 3 home but blue liking me so much means when i had him in when he was sick he figured out real quick that when he yelled i came running.....like a kid bad attention is better then none! Lol. He would cock his head and listen, and yell if i got too far away to suit him or God forbid had another bird in hand.

The pile up on 94 involved nearly 100 vehicles. At least one fatality.
Saw some coverage on it and some of the vehicles involved were on fire including one semi hauling a huge load of fireworks so they kept going off while it burned. Crazy...

Yeah and another 40 car pile up on 23 near Ann Arbor. I hope none of you folks have to travel this weekend.

yep, DH had to travel today... would have gone right through the 94 mess. He calls me and said "did you hear anything about a 30 car pile up on 94?" I said its over 90 cars, yes. (120 cars) So I had to help find an alternate route for him to steer clear of it. And the one on 23 is just down the road. Thank goodness for google maps!!

I'd avoid the hwy as much as possible until the darn truckers slow the heck down. I had a bunch pass me like I was sitting still last night coming home from dog training.

How much of the Powdered sugar has everyone gotten? In AA it looks like 4-5 inches, with drifting. And we're supposed to get about 3 more inches tonight.
Welcome to the new folks, and nice to see you back Farmer! I love your little jersey/highland calf!

That accident happened just east of Kzoo, where I am, (near the Galesburg exit). It is a horrible section of 94 with many people driving too fast and a ton of trucks going between Chicago, Battle Creek, Detroit, and Windsor. I don't go that way unless I am going to visit family in A2, but even then, if traffic is bad, I take the back roads until east of Battle Creek. Schools were closed here for the past 3 days because of the cold and the snow (about a foot in the last 24 hrs? hard to tell exactly). I still had to go to work, though. Oh, well. Can't wait to move my Saint from NY. He'll really enjoy this weather.
