Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

She does do beautiful work, I think I have 6 of her eggs! I hope the dog bite doesn't hinder her ability to continue making them.
Your pheasants are beautiful!
Well we brought the little home yesterday. No name for her yet. She's pretty scared, and I feel bad keeping her separated but I want to get her tested and checked out before moving her down to the goat pen. If she is cleared of CAE/Johnes and worms, I will gate off an area in the goat shed so they can see each other but not come in contact. She is way to small to be put down with the big goats... and I'm half tempted to bring her in the house so she can get used to us. I gave her some nutri-drench and she got through the night out in a small shed with a heat lamp to stay warm. I was worried that she had bloated a bit cause her sides were huge. But she burped pretty good a few times and I put some baking soda with her minerals. She was a normal size by the time I left the shed.
Happy Birthday Sam!!!! (Opa)

That was the presentation at the meeting last Wednesday. Slide 11 is pretty confusing.

This is why we go to the commissioners meetings. Some of the MDARD people don't like it but we go, we listen, we speak and we ask questions. They really don't like the questions.

keep em on their toes!

I'm willing to bet they didn't go public so the people would continue to eat the meat.
FDA recommended a 28 day hold on the swine and MDARD pushed hard for a lesser amount of time. The state vet did not say why they wanted less time but the feds won that battle. The pigs still went to market and our dinner tables. No word about what they did with the dead turkeys.

Thank you for the informative article and all your time in going to all these meetings and keeping us informed

turkeys are most likely in our pet food, reason for so much cancer in dogs

there was a huge article in the paper in my area about it and how they had to kill hundreds of thousands of cows, chickens, like 5 million eggs, and so many tons of feed....they dug a big hole up here and had protesters from all over the state and they hauled dump trucks in and dropped off the animals...one cop actually hit a women but nobody was hurt or arrested....everything made the paper I will see if I can find the paper and take a pic and post it....pretty crazy stuff...glad I havnt bought anything from people up here in a long time...the only thing I get are some chickens but even those don't come from this area....
