Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Anybody else hate the fact that we are are gonna get at least 8 inches of snow, I know I do.
Yes, I'm not thrilled....but we've had it pretty easy most the winter-compared to last.
We're forecast to get between 8-14 by tomorrow morning.
I've already shoveled 6" off in 2 sessions.....will wait until tomorrow to throw the driveway clear.

TD are you still doing Welsumers?
I do still have a small flock of Welsummer hens, but I will be selling them this spring. I think I'm only going to raise Cream Legbars. I just don't have the time for so many chickens with everything else I do.

I can understand the time crunch.....do you still have a Wellie roo?

The pair I got from you have had one pullet hatched by a friends broody last fall and I plan on hatching some more in a month or so.
He's also covering a blue, green and olive egg layers. Got some blues under a brood right now, 1 week to go!

Sorry. I only have the hens now. I've been slowly selling down my flock and sold him last fall to someone who wanted a rooster and was willing to pay well for one. :( Sounds like the ones you got are doing very well! That's great to hear! I hope they produce many chicks for many years for you!

Welcome to the new people. Be sure to click on the links in my signature for information on CS15 (Chicken Stock).

Also, I got word from the BYC admins that I can offer a three-month Golden Feather Membership as a door prize at CS15. It is what I won for the caption contest. Of course if no one is interested I can always keep it.

Just came in from removing the first 8" from the top driveway. The lower and longer drive can wait till the storm is over. I did plow a path to the chicken coop so I could check on the birds and gather the eggs. Sure am glad that the run is enclosed for the winter. Sure gives the birds more space than just the coop would.

Hi BYC!
My name is Sarah, and I live in Montcalm County...I'm really excited for this spring! I've been working diligently on my Lavender Orpington line.

It's nice to have found this thread. Now BYC feels a little more local. Everyone stay warm!
