Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Are they better than TSC at getting the right breeds? All my favorite employees no longer work at the TSC in Paw Paw and most of the new employees know nothing about chickens. My husband loves Rural King. Maybe I will talk him into making a trip over there and act surprised when I see chicks...I already have four incubators full of chicken and quail eggs with approximately 50-60 chicks out in my brooder. I don't think a couple more will make a difference!

Trying to find someone to process a bunch of extra roosters that are ready to move out of the grow out pens! Any ideas?

you have any Amish down by you? they are my go to when I have a big bunch I have one that only charges me 1.50 a bird and when I have 20 plus to do, well lets just say my time is worth more than that....

What's really scary is the comments section with people referencing the 70's PBB and also the plastic in dog food-10 yrs ago, evidently unaware that right now there is a recall in effect for blue plastic stuff in dog food and the more than serious ( although not as bad as the PBB) contamination problems since then.

Hi, anybody else here keep salamanders?
i don't, but it sounds like a worth while thing to do. . How many & what kind do you have? Where do you get them from and how do you house & feed them? Any pics?

I have three, a tiger salamander and 2 blue spotted salamanders. I found them in the swamp on my property. I house the tiger salamander in a five gallon aquarium, but as they can grow to a foot long I will be upgrading his tank to at least 20 gal. As for food, their main one is worms but it's a good idea to feed them a variety of bugs, like crickets or wax worms. They initially only eat live foods, but I tried to feed them a piece of chicken( no worms left and all gas stations had none) and the tiger and oldest blue spotted ate the chicken pieces. It was a last resort and wouldn't feed it to them again. Pics to come later.

I've found a couple yellow spotted ones living in my garden and yard the last few years.
