Aye, no commercial hatchery will sell a purebred Araucana. And only Meyers has Ameraucanas. Any other hatchery that claims to sell Ameraucanas, "Americanas" and Araucanas is offering EEs. Sadly, it causes a great deal of confusion.
The lethal trait isn't too difficult to handle, though. Chicks who are homozygous for the dominant tufting are the ones that fail to hatch. If you breed tufted x tufted, expect about 25% of chicks to die in shell. The problem can be solved by breeding tufted x cleanfaced. You get 50% tufted birds either way.
Rumpless birds can have some reduced fertility. It is just a little more difficult for a rooster to hit is mark on a rumpless hen.
