and that is corn growing just everywhere, man I wish I could get two planting and harvest of corn, but their sweet corn well its not sweet...


some goats for those of you into that....

this chicky momma had about 8 chicks under her.....yes I traveled all the way to Africa and took pictures of chickens.....


and here's where you went to get your meat unless you grabbed one off the street saw a turkey tied to a street pole I need to see if I got a picture of that.....

So just some pictures from my trip to Uganda spent most of December there....should have stayed longer.....

Welcome to the new folks1 The pictures from Africa look WARM, so much better than here. Birdman, hope your water woes are fixed. We had ugly winter water adventures this week; frozen line from well to house, huge digging project with welldrilling people, and after three days, running water again! At least no flooding in the house, but fun times getting water for the horses, cattle, and chickens. Bring on spring!!! Mary

I have a ton more....have you ever been to Africa?

I have not yet been to Africa, but am planning on it in the near future. I have been to Indonesia in the Banda Aceh area, almost as far north as you can go. We were helping rebuild after Hurricane Katrina went through and destroyed most of the homes along the western coast for miles. Some rebuilding pictures. These were inland about 10 miles and were built for the families that lost everything they had or owned.
That's me in the white headband. We think that the weather here is warm in the summer, well there the sun is from almost directly overhead so it's almost twice as hard on a person. We ate a lot of local popsicles in an effort to stay cool. It helped some, but it was almost unbearable at times.

..for some reason it was freezing like 2 inches of line right where it comes out of the ground even though it was all insulated and the end og the heat tape was there. . BTW do you know why a peahen would never lay eggs? The peahen is over 3yrs old i think and has never laid an egg, she even has a pied india Blue peacock and that didnt even entice her i guess.

Did you try mulching (deep) over the ground around and on top of where the pipe comes in? The peacock has nothing to do with the hen not laying eggs. It could be she's just a late maturing individual, or more likely a nutrient, genetic, or housing problem.

I don't normally use hay in the coop but this year there is some in and on the duck box. It seems the guineas have decided that it is for them and I end up resupplying every day. I know it's good for them I just worry the chickens will end up with problems if they copy.

If you are worried about the chickens eating the hay, its good for them as long as they have access to grit.

Ugh, anyone know something easy to find that will soak up water around electric... ? Water to kitchen sink broke, spilling water to basement, directly above main water pump coming into house. Of course everything is shut off now, until its fixed, but want to make sure its good and dry. Thanks

If you have a good shop vac, suck up all the standing water and see if your vac will suck some of the water out of your beams as well. Cover the pump with a sheet of plastic until there is no more dripping water. Once you've sucked up all the water run a dehumidifier until its dry down there. You can use compressed air to blow moisture out of the pump motor.
