Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I candled eggs at the library this morning and we have 10 that are still going.

1mutt - the boy is still against meat birds "the kind that always break their legs". But after going through lists of dual purpose and what mom suggested, he has decided to go with Delawares because you have some and said something about them. In the future I may just have to throw your name in when I'm trying to get him to decide. :p

I wasn't gong to do anymore incubating but now I will be forced to for the 4-h birds.....so I may just throw in a few more  We'll see how many a few are!

I also discovered my duck is laying eggs. I've been looking for them on the ground or in her duck box, but no my duck gets into the chickens nest box to lay her eggs. Here I thought my Ameraucanas were doing great and it's actually the duck. So I may have to hatch a few call ducks as well!

I feel the same way when I come on here! If I check daily, I feel like I'm not checking much, but then when I go 5 days, I'm completely overwhelmed! Sat down with my breakfast & caught up on everything. Seems like the big news is @RaZ 's heart surgery? How are you doing with the Binder of Knowledge? Too much information gives me too much anxiety -- especially if its something I'm not too familiar with.

DH and I shoveled off the porch last week, and we're finally seeing the majority of the snow melt. I can see the top of old plants from our raised garden beds and the ground is sloooowly absorbing all this water/mud. The snow in the chicken area isn't melting yet, so we're letting the girls free-range in the whole backyard. They are loving the grass!

Heating lamp burned out in the brooder last night. DH woke up to find our girls huddled together -- thankfully, we had another on hand to replace right away and they might've only gone without heat for a few hours.

Its a beautiful day! After laundry and work, I'm excited to go outside for chores!

Well shoot, I let mine out to free range on Saturday and one did not come back. I have looking for her since but no trace not even feathers. I know they all scattered when a visiting dog scared them off but all the rest came back as soon as we removed the dog.

Hi hickchick, nice to have you stop by. I used to live in Mesick, still miss my wild turkeys and the beautiful area

I stayed outside of mesivk one summer and worked in TC. God's country. Ex made me come back else i never would have. Air was clean and i never got headaches, which i normally get most days.

Doves i have a plenty at moment, the two i recently bought did turn out girls. The older one will not take a mate yet but both are sweeties. The daughter unfortunatly got real happy and laid an egg with one of my boys, by the end of the week it will hatch if it was fertile. If it is a boy i might put him with my shy girl if he is the darker wild type. A girl i will try with george, the older codger that is refusing a mate. Thanks for remembering, though! This is a hit-or-miss hobby. I

Hope she turns up.

Okay, bees keep getting stuck in the run since the plastic is still up. Chickens are snapping at them... Grr. Now ones on my leg.

Why do they keep coming to the coop,

 - I actually have Delaware eggs coming but not until after April 5th. Along with Arkansas Blues, Cream Legbars, and Buckeyes  . He is welcome to any cockerels he wants - since Dels are rapid feathering, you can sex them fairly well at a few days of age.
