Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

What does anyone use for automatic coop doors? I'll be gone for about two weeks in July the same time the neighbor will be out on vacation! I hope I can get a coop camera and a auto door before then.

I just need a good, cheap brand of auto door soon. Thanks :)

Nova was doing a weekly recap about the same time that the old thread was shut down. I think that was why so many people moved to FB.

Test went well, just have to wait for them to read it and the doctor to make his comments. Sure would have liked a cigarette afterwards though.

It is supposed to get to 50 today and then a low of 20 overnight. I hope so just to get the sap flowing. And I have a couple more totes of firewood staged that I'd rather burn than re-stack. So much to get done before the surgery. I'm not sure how much the heart cath is going to slow me down. That one is Thursday. It seems odd to have to have a surgery so you can have a surgery.

Nova was on last fall once, I think she still had chickens but had an outbreak of Meriks

neither the surgery before you have surgery or the surgery after sounds like fun. here are some good wishes for a speedy recovery.
Some more on the cover up of the tainted animal feed from last fall.

makes you feel real confident in the food you eat. just cant grow every thing we eat.

the white palm turkeys are so pretty.

Here is a young Cubalaya cockerel. Brown red color with white mixed in. I'm not sure if it should be called mottled or not. Maybe some of you'all would know.

Hey, I'm new to byc and about to get my own chickens. Wood is awaiting assembling into a tractor. City ordinance limits us to 4 hens and they must be contained. Since I live next to one of our judges I plan to mind my manners and I'm hoping the little feathered girls will too! Looking for any advice for a newbie. I'm up north and a tractor really is my only option in our small yard. How will I winterize it? Are two nesting boxes enough for 4 hens? Oh, the possibilities!

Well Welcome!....I'm sure you're going to love having chickens

not sure about the winterizing, unless you could maybe stack straw bales up against the coop part of the tractor?. 2 nest boxes is more than enough for 4 hens, I believe you only need 1 box for around 4-6 hens....but pay no attention to me, my husband built 3 nest boxes and we only have 5 hens right now!

Hi all. I miss this site so much! I hope all is well with you and your birds. I am working my way back to chicken ownership. Living vicariously through some friends. I really can't wait to have my own again. I hope all is well with everyone. I hope to make it to chickenstock this year. Keep me in the loop.
