Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I gave up on DH and son running the tractor for me and learned to do it myself. The last to days I've been moving sod and dirt for a new flower bed. My trusty WCB Polish rooster, Pippin has been my helper. He follows along and picks worms. I don't mind his company except he is always underfoot as soon as he sees the shovel.

Earlier in the week I discovered my bitty batam had a nest she was sitting on in the eaves. I added more straw for her and noted what day I would have to get her to a safe spot. Last night I see some other hen tore her nest up and she is no longer broody. Poor Millie.

1mutt do you think your going to have chicks to sell? One of the teachers wants to get six standard of any kind. My bantam eggs are looking good but the standard may be a bit too scrambled, I've already removed half from the incubator.

The library chicks are back visiting the kids this week. Very messy in a dog crate. I'm telling the kids who want to keep one in their bedroom how dirty they make things. One little boy tells me he still wants one. I ask if he would keep it in his room. He says " no I don't want my room dirty, I'd keep it in my sisters room."

I know i have asked this before, hoping to add to our animals in the next 2 or 3 months... Looking for hens mainly for egg production and bunnies for meat production, also ducks. (Now we have 2 and they are 3-4 weeks old. Would love to try and get chicks locally rather than shipping.

Thanks!!!!

Hopefully, but I'd hate to count before they hatch! First set due Thursday are Welsummer, Delaware and CL - AB crosses which should be excellent blue eggers. Second due next Thursday are Buckeyes, CL's, CL-AB mixes, and AB's.
