Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I would love to go! Its my birthday weekend (june 19)! Not sure if i am going yet. We still have to finish building the coop. Will know soon if we will make it..im in the saginaw area, id even drive to pick up
I'm going to chickenstock if all goes well. If you can't go, then I can pick up the rabbits for you and you can pick them up at my house. I live in Davison

If you all want to make a rabbit chain that works for me....we can probly arrange payment thru paypal so the logistics of money transfer isnt a problem either. i live in greenbush so the trek from saginaw isnt to horrible and we go to oscoda daily and tawas pretty frequently.

Not sure if any of you remember me but I took the plunge and bought some baby chicks :) I bought 10 intersex Black Australorps. They look to be about a week old. I am hoping to pick up a chicken coop this weekend. Right now I have all the chicks in a 50 gallon aquarium. I am sure I will be asking more questions later on but besides food, warmth, and clean water what else do I need? I picked up some probiotics.

The aquarium is 4 foot long by 2 foot wide. So far they have plenty of room. I just about scared them to death measuring it though :) I can see that they will grow out of this in a few weeks but by then I hope to have my coop and I can put them in there with the heat lamp. Sound like a plan?

Where did you post your pics birdman?
frow.gif

they were before the ones you posted...when i got back i sent them in

You will be surprised at how fast they outgrow such a small space. Another issue is that aquariums tend to not have very good ventilation, especially if partially covered - they are tall compared to their size.

Hi, Tina, yup we remember you, congrats on your chickens just sure you have a large enough coop with a larger run and all are predator proof.
So when building a coop, do I only need treated wood for the parts that will actually touch the ground?
yes, , ours has treated posts and treated cross members supporting the floor. paint every thing and put on a dry roof and you should be good
