@Living the Simple Life is the larger one a duck egg or chicken egg?
The larger wattles/comb could very well be roosters. Still kinda hard to tell at 8 weeks, but i'd think at minimum the first one is likely a roo.
Thanks. These are my first 3 chickens. My husband says the Roos have to go to freezer camp too. I'm worried about only having one hen left then. Will she be lonely? The larger wattles/comb could very well be roosters. Still kinda hard to tell at 8 weeks, but i'd think at minimum the first one is likely a roo.
Speaking of roo, tomorrow is the day I'm suppose to send mine to freezer camp. I've never done it, and I"m not looking forward to it.

I just have the 3. I simply bought what was available at our feed store, so I'm assuming they were straight run. I'll have to look into heating or possibly get her some friends by winter! How many birds do you have all together? Did you go straight run or get sexed?
if there's only 1 chicken, you will want to consider heating in the winter. They usually keep each other warm in the winter (from what I've read, still haven't gone through a winter.) I'm not sure if she'd be "lonely", but I think they do better in a flock.
