Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Busy day yesterday. Having about 50 trees pushed over (about 60 - 70 feet tall and up to about 2' diameter) to make room for the coop, run area and future garden. Pushing them is the easy part, the moving of stumps, logs & the tops is the hard part. I can tell you the chickens & ducks DID NOT like the loader at all. I felt bad they were scared but they quickly found a spot in the woods on the opposite side of the house and went back to their normal foraging activities.

I'm excited. I went to check on the 3 littles that hatched a few days ago. They were outside with both moms all day and went in to bed in the coop.
Looked at the broody BA sitting on the duck eggs and saw a half shell just outside. Moved it and lifted up momma. Two wet ducklings are under mom. Two more eggs to go.
Well since I supplied the duck eggs I sure would like to see some pix. If not here on FB! And, if they get too big for you I'll come out and bring em' home to Uncle John's Station (farm).

Morning all.

Today is a somber day for me as I am going to have to put down one of my roosters this morning. He's not the dominant rooster and was kicked from the coop. I can't seem to find him a new home. It seems today I face the reality of raising chickens.

At the same time I gave him the best life I could, and he got to roam about freely instead of being locked in a tiny box (except since his leg injury he's been inside with us)

Anyone near Lansing have chicks availble? FFH/TSC are long out, Townline is 15 minimum, and a buddy of mine wants to get started w/ chicks. Being in lansing he can only have 5, and if I come home with any more chicks, the mrs will disown me.

it might be to long of a drive but FFH in Gaylord has chicks still. Our TSC hasn't had any for awhile, and they have a 6 minimum.

I'm trying. Momma hen is pretty ornery. I don't want to disturb her just yet until I'm sure the other eggs are hatched.
ETA Picture.
All 4 have hatched. One was out of the nest and was pecked by someone. I can't tell if the eyes are gone or just wounded around them. The other 3 are fine with mom bird.
