I don't think they care, they just want us gone!http://www.michigan.gov/mdard/0,4610,7-125-1572_28248-367549--,00.html
Once again MDARD is using spin media to paint a bleak picture. Avian influenza is in the air again and the blame goes to the migrating birds. I suppose school buses are the vectors for mumps and measles in children.
Although waterfowl get the bulk of the blame from the "experts", duck and goose hunters need not be overly worried.
Funny how there is no mention of the concentrated animal feed operations or the conditions that promote the rapid spread of disease within these confined space. The finger of blame is pointed at the backyard chickens again. I wonder if MDARD is aware of how well backyard flocks are cared for.
Yes, congratulations.!!!

still some pretty color here, still working on winter preparations. have the winter tarps up and winter waterers out. not plugged in yet.
waiting for chickens to be near done with molt before I pull out old bedding and add new thicker layers
Wish my girls would hurry up and get their molt over with. been seeing a lot of loose feathers out in the run, but it seems mostly that they're not really molting yet. My older girls from last year didn't really molt last year and their feathers all look pretty ratty now.
Kinda bummed out this week, got a pretty nasty case of contact dermatitis and I can't really work as a massage therapist with that all over my arms. Thankfully the meds the doctor prescribed for me seem to be doing the trick in knocking down the spots, just gotta finish healing up. another one of those times I really wish I had accelerated healing like Wolverine has.
