Anyone wanting to get started raising chickens or wanting to add to their capabilities should contact me. I have 11 hens Free plus assorted feeders, waterers cheap. A frame coop cheap 8x14 coop free (must disassemble)

Does that mean no smoked chicken at CS16?

I don't need the hens but I'll be in your neck of the woods next Wednesday. I'm dropping off some birds at Munsell's. Maybe we can get a coffee.

Met the liver specialist today and got the OK for any and all future surgeries. I guess that's good news.

I ordered my replacement bees today. That is definitely good news.

WOW! Triplets! They look good, too. Opa, so sorry that you are giving up on the chickens; why not just a few? Sometimes I load the 50 lb. feed bags into my car, and sometimes I have the sweet young things do it for me; it just depends. That's not stopping my farm addition, for sure. Well, maybe much later it might. Cold this weekend, that must be why we live in Michigan, right? Mary

I had considered keeping a smaller flock but as one ages you often must re-evaluate your priorities. While taking care of Granny is a piece of cake, it still requires considerable time. Now my old farmer friend is going to require even more of my time. Sadly, his fall and the breaking of his hip has trigger the onset of alzheimers disease. He has become difficult to manage and refuses to do the therapy necessary for physical recovery. Since he is uncooperative and becoming belligerent the center will no longer treat him.

David is going to move out to the farm and spend the nights there, however, he must work. So we will be hiring visiting nurses to help. The problem is made worse by the fact that his once distrust of women has turned into hate. I forsee problems that will require my presence more often.

The last couple of years have been extremely trying from a health stand point. The elective 15 minute elbow surgery has morphed into a 2 1/2 year battle that is still not over and has had serious effect on my strength and endurance. I am convinced that the infection caused my heart to develop atrial fibrilllation which led to my stroke.

This past week everyone in the family contracted a severe and painful cold that we are still battling. Unfortunately probably due to my existing condition my developed into pneumonia. When I found myself sitting on the bath room floor with a cut under my eye and not certain how I got there I decided it was prudent to call 911. That resulted in spending Wednesday and Thursday in the hospital.

So you can see it was time for me to re-evaluate my priorities. Raz I love for you to stop by but call first to make sure we are no longer contagious.

so sorry to hear, Opa. I can not imagine anyone with wider shoulders to carry the loads you have to bear. So glad that you have your sons to rely on. And very sorry to hear about your good friend.

Hang in there Sam...
I am just beginning to feel some of the 'letting go of activities as I age due to physicality'......have had to give up several things so far.
It's sad and and I mourn, but remember Dr. Suess..... don't be sad they're over, be glad they happened.

Opa, so sorry about all your troubles. that sounds like whooping cough, some of my family had it a couple years ago, coughed so hard you couldn't breath, had to remind myself, breath,breath, my son passed out a couple times from coughing so hard. very scarry,
I have talked to several people who had loved ones go through the violent stage of Alzheimers, it does pass, I am surprised he is at that stage it usually doesn't happen so fast. most of my dads 6 sisters had Alzheimers, as well as some cousins and maybe my brother. but it progressed rather slowly. .

we will continue to pray for you and yours, it is so hard to watch. you are blessed to have a close family.
