No chicks yet at Hudsonville TSC...whew!

No chicks here until the snow is gone and weather has warmed - should be about another 2 months or so.

Well we checked all the near-by TSC Facebook pages while we were downstate and all of them said no chicks until the week of the 29th. So Monday at the earliest. We DID find chicks at the FFH in Portland but all they had were BRs, production reds, and EEs. Guess I will be waiting a couple more weeks for chicks.

North Muskegon FF&H is "over run" with chicks of just about any breed you want.

Who's tapping? A month early and I'm already running out of storage. Have to start boiling next week.

I noticed the FFH in Allegan was all set up for chicks last weekend when I went in to buy some new waterers and feeders. I have resisted the urg to go back and check if they have since gotten them in. They weren't getting any breeds in that I really wanted any more of anyway. But, that doesn't mean I won't be checking the TSC and FFH in Holland though.

I have 130 cochin bantams in the incubator right now. Super excited for this hatch as i need to recoup on my losses i just recently had to deal with. Im one of several farms that was robbed of birds and i had 18 of my best breeders taken from my barn about a month ago.
So with this 1st hatch of the year is very important to me.
I have 4 pens total with...
Millie smooth and frizzled
Blue millie smooth and frizzled
Porcelain smooth only
And
Chocolate smooth and frizzled
I cant wait and super excited to hopefully hatch out some good future breeders for my projects.

Dh helped his brother tap last weekend. A few days of labor and we get a few gallons of syrup in exchange. Can't beat that!
