Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

All of my nailers are Porter-Cable. The framer uses clipped head nails. I use them for all kinds of projects. However, I prefer screws for deck building.

So the rumor on the internetz is that clipped head nails are becoming harder to find due to some jurisdictions requiring round head. I'm not sure about all that. Do you know if the building code in Mi has any statement about what has to be used round vs clipped?

Oh nooooo!!!

I bought 3 new millie cochin bantams (falls hatching) Sunday and they shipped yesterday from Maryland. The winter advisory due today was only 4 inchs and now upgraded to 10 inchs. Hopefully they still arrive on time and safely.
Stupid weather

I (fortunately) missed the horse auction - helping out Mom, she is post-surgical again, but doing much better than the last time. Looks like her next visit will be an oncologist, though.
hope things go well with your mom,
My DH was not overly impressed with what they had, he said one horse went up to 10thousand and they took the horse back home cause they needed more.
not a good time to mail chickens. hope they arrive safe.

hope this is the last winter storm, my hens dont like the snow, nor do I

My local feed store is now taking orders for chicks to be delivered the first week of April. We are stating from scratch with 6 chicks. I'm thinking of getting 2 Isa brown, 2 Araucanas, a barred rock and a light brahma.

Q: What has 12 legs and says "peep. peep. peep"?

A: My TSC receipt.

Also brought home a banty Australorp to be a buddy to the silkie that Kim gave to me last month. Looks like the Orphanarium is back in business.

Alas, the birds your feed store calls Araucana are not Araucana. They are Easter Eggers. Just giving you a heads up! No commercial hatchery sells purebred Araucana.

Fortunately I hit TSC today during the snowstorm. VERY helpful in avoiding those cute chicks! I WILL NOT set up my brooder to keep temptation at bay. Besides, the Cackle order is coming in April. Bought enough feed to last a while without going back there too. Mary

Good to know... I mainly just like the fact they have blue eggs. I think the kids will find that fun. Will that be true of an Easter egger as well? I believe the chicks come from town line poultry
