Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They free range inside of a large fenced in area. I haven't checked vent or pelvis. What would I be looking for?
Vent Appearance:
Dry, tight, and smaller - usually not laying.
Moist, wide, and larger - usually laying.

Pelvic Points 2 bony points(pelvic bones) on either side of vent:
Less than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means not laying.
More than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means laying.

You drove right past me and didn't stop in? Did you at least wave?
They still have me on a weight limit, 25 lbs. Feed comes in 40 or 50 pound bags. Trip to TSC today and returned with 6 bags. That should PO the doctor.

The first egg is always a big deal. Even if you have had chickens for years.
Garden City really isn't off of I-94. Besides, if I stepped foot in Garden City with chicken poop on my boots I might just get arrested. I'm too pretty for jail!

My bantam roo attacked me for the first time yesterday ...... three times! The first time was when I let them out into the run for the morning. He threw himself at my boot I didn't think much of it b/c he spooks easily. later in the day I scooped him up to check his comb looks like his girl tagged him a couple times. Anyways I put him down and went into the run to give them some scratch and he went after my legs again so I chased him around the run and held him in the dirt once I caught him ( so glad no one saw that spectacle lol). After I let him up he came back for more. So I repeated the process. The only thing that changed is I opened up the dog kennel in the coop that my newest bantam pullet Peanut has been living in for the last week. Could this be the reason he's acting out? If he keeps it up he will take a one way trip to my oven w roasted veggies. So my ultimate question is should I let it ride and see what happens over the next few days and if so what do you think? He's not hurting me yet but I always wear pants and boots in the coops. Thanks for your input in advance. :)

I see a crock pot in his future! There's nothing funnier than a little 1.5 lb beast trying to kill an adult human, and I've been there too in years gone by. The little ***** only got worse until fate arrived. Mary

Chickflick are you laughing at me? my hubby **** near fell on the floor laughing when I told him yesterday.

Mary thank you for your input. I've always had bad luck w roos. we put 4 In the freezer last year and as a kid I got attacked by our rooster my dad had to get the gun and take care of him. so far my Icelandic roo is being good but he's only about 8 months old. I'm going to be bummed if I have to put the bantam in the oven but I will not keep a mean rooster. there's too many nice ones that could use a home.
