Just finished the PSI (pre-sentencing interview) with the GC probation officer. I believe it was a waste of my time as the objective is to force behaviour changes to my lifestyle and extract as much cash from me as possible.
She wanted information like the names of ex-wives, marriage dates, medical history and other details that I can't see are relevant to the case at hand. She also had driving record and credit report.
She had a letter from the neighbor listing a dozen things that he doesn't like about me. She dwelled on that for most of the session. This was from a thick folder that I was not allowed to see, let alone contest. The assumption is that he is right and I am wrong.
I questioned a lot of what she stated and she did not like that. So I'll probably be called un-cooperative.
I can only get a copy of the report on the day of sentencing. No chance to challenge any of the information as to accuracy of fact.
She finished by telling me that I had to be compliant with all ordinance standards as they pertain to the neighbor's interpretation of them. Basically do as the neighbor wants so he has no reason to call the city or the cops.

I figure that I'm screwed.

I'm sorry, sure wish you could win the lottery so you could get the H out of there, I have never known anyone to get harassed to such an extent over nothing, I swear there must be a gold mine under your house and they want the property. Course they could have had it if they would pay you property value so you could leave GC. They could have bought you out for less then all the money they have spent harassing you,

So find things that there is no ordinance against, and do it in the most annoying way possible. Like cooking outside on days the smoke blows towards his house. Or install a motion sensing light that turns on whenever he uses his yard. Or install a noisy little waterfall bird fountain.

Well, RaZ. You need to write down a list of all the things you don't like about your neighbor and make him comply to your idea of what he should be doing. Call and complain every time he plays music too loud. His leaves blow on your lawn. His tree branches hand over on your side of the yard. His dog barks... You get the message. Two can play the game

You guys are missing the point. This guy has connections with the court. He goes to church with the judge. The cops and the ordinance officer tell me that I can not complain about him because he has "special needs". I've tried this before.
His house is devoid of any landscaping. He has no pets. He rarely comes outside and all windows are covered. There is more to this but I'll not go into it here.

So no chance you could just petition the court then to have another judge handle the case?? You would think that one of those Motor City Muckraker groups would get interested in your case?

There are a lot of places you can live in this state where you can be free to within reason express yourself. Unfortunately Garden City is not one of them - what narrow-minded, authoritarian, antidemocracy idiots. Are you SURE you can't move?

I've tried that. There is only one judge here and he is not about to recuse himself.

Know any mortgage companies who will give a loan to an unemployed criminal? Maybe someone is willing to buy my house and live next to an idiot who dictates what happens in other people's backyards.

I don't think you have to disclose the fact that your neighbors are a********s when you put your property up for sale, But maybe the housing market is still tough there hey?
