Had a very good day at the party, and yes, bird-chasing occurred again! I brought a big net, so most escapees were easily caught, except one of my Belgian d'Uccle hens. Again! She ran off into the woods and poison ivy, and was finally trapped against a fence. I'm nursing a recently sprained ankle, so didn't participate in the hunt this year,. just brought another athletic little bird! There was a nice breeze, so it wasn't too hot. Mary

I counted four (4) escapees today. A new record I think.

I mentioned that I had broody hens and you guys came through with fertile eggs for me. Brett and Candy had eggs and so did Nancy. So each of my broody girls are now sitting on 9 fertile eggs each. Like I really need 27 hatchlings to deal with. But that is 3 weeks away and with any luck I'll be in new digs by then.

As always, it was great to see old friends and we got to meet some new people too.

Good Morning all. CS was fun as always seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I remain the keeper of the "kit" (sign-in book, raffle tickets, yada yada) so I'll have to attend again next year, lol. Bad news though. Got home after a long hot drive and found one of our baby goats missing. Someone messed with the pen door. It was latched shut but a rope was ajar telling me someone had been in there. Posted on a missing pet finder on FB for Muskegon. Here's hoping the best! Did come home with a Banty Roo and he's filling the big barn with his singing this morning. Have a great day all and enjoy this beautiful weather! P.S. Already miss a bunch of you, lol

It was fantastic and great to see everyone each year. Love all the chicken people. Next year I think directional signs at the park entrance and to the pavillion will be in order. SO MUCH YUMMY FOOD and very nice birds there too! Very nice variety on the raffle table I know I spent all my luck yesterday winning early enough to get the canning jars! Looking forward to next year. Today at the Williamston Farmers Market from 10am to 2pm to sell some of the 30 dozen eggs we have in our egg fridge !!

John, that's too bad about your goat, hope you get some news - FB would be a good start, spread it around on all the local posts.

John, so sorry! Post signs everywhere, report to the police and animal control, local livestock auctions (and some not so local!), contact the local LA veterinarians. Send photos everywhere! Generally make a lot of noise, and someone may 'find' him. Good luck, Mary PS Also craigs list.

Thanks. We're working on locating him. No pictures! I was prepared to shoot the event like always and my SD card was missing and so was my back-up! Maybe some phone pictures exist? If so someone could post them. One thing we usually do is talk about things we could do, or change, or get back to doing. The people part is always awesome so no big news there, however, our numbers are way down. So there's that. But, when I went to my first CS there were a few things that were done that made things pretty smooth. I'll wait until winter to start talking about a certain "ways things were done". Plus maybe we could secure a banner like we had before. If you noticed the picture I took of Granny a few years back as she sat at the main table with Hope and greeted people? Well there were things done (by them) that made other thing more "equitable". Again, I'll go into more detail later. No sense in upsetting the apple cart, lol. I wonder if RaZ found his dream property?

Baby Goat returned. He was taken. Some good people that saw some shady dealings helped us out. This thing never happens here in farm country, well, maybe now it does.
