Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

From all I've read, never done it myself, best time is well after dark but be there first light to make sure they are 'bonded'. Mama might not be accepting of chicks and also chicks might not 'get it' to stay under mama, the younger the chicks the better. Have a back up brooding plan. Might be hard if you're not living where the birds are living, I'd go a bit nuts if I couldn't check on them several times a day. Best of cLuck!
Yeah, I was going a little crazy last night hoping that she had settled in the dog coop in the other coop. Not so sure she's all that happy about it, and looked like she slept up on a roost last night. Grabbed the other broody one and put her in as well today, along with a couple pieces of plywood around to kinda close off the door to the dog coop a little more. Hopefully one of them settles and starts sitting.

yochickie, hope things improve soon! 'Stuff' does come in clusters, for sure.
Raz, your new place look great! Waiting for update and closing being done. Mary
Thanks Mary. Got pretty rough for a little while tonight but the biggest immanent burden left about two hrs ago. ...... whew! My little chicken is getting a little better each day as far as I can tell.

Hi..anyone hear from Glambka? She is the one who wanted an splash rooster and it looks like she has not been on here since January. I did send her a message...hope all is well with her.

Yeah, don't think that the whole momma hen thing is going to work out for me right now. They're still all puffed up out in the seperate coop, but they're not sitting at all there. Just mad at the world right now. Kinda thinking that I should take the dog coop out of there and just break them of being broody and set up my brooder in the garage.

Also, wasp stinging you right between the first and second knuckles suck!!! all swollen up now. Glad I opted to take the day off after that.

I'm sure that wasps fit into the ecosystem somewhere, but I'd be just fine without them!
My broodies, except for my current one, all resented being moved and gave up on it this summer. Bah! Humbug! Mary

Trying walking around your coop wearing a white suit and mumbling things like "extra crispy" and "finger lickin'". You probably will need a goatee as well if you want to be totally effective in your attempt to stimulate them.
The other night we ate Boston Market. The chicken was picked clean by the 4 of us as a joke to my wife I showed it to the chickens and said this is what happened to the last bird that didn't lay eggs. I then threw the left overs on the ground and with out any thought they picked the rest of the meat clean.

Raz i hope everything goes well with the closing on your new place!
Closing went off without a hitch.
SOS office was close by so I officially changed my address with them and registered to vote in my new town. Found the TSC and FFH too.
Since this place was a vacation/weekend home for the previous owners there was no mailbox. So I stopped at the Post Office and the letter carrier will come by on Monday so we can select a spot to place the mailbox.
The propane guys came out to inspect the tank and the furnace and schedule a top off. All systems were "go" and no leaks were detected. Yea!

I got one load of stuff into the house but it isn't put away yet. I want to clean all the rooms and change shelf paper before I start putting stuff away. I'm going to be very busy for the foreseeable future.

Accepting offers of help. ;)
