Well, I have been known to place some on occasion...depends
. I think if I keep them past the usual fall "dump" I have better luck. Not sure if I want to deal with extras this year, tho.

I hear ya...was able to give away 5 cockerels last year to someone who wanted to 'try out' chickens, then I got lazy about culling hens in the fall-crowding mistake.Well, I have been known to place some on occasion...depends. Hello..joining the extra rooster list! I have two cuckoo Maran boys and one splash EE boy looking for homesThis season's...I am in Zeeland.
I just put 2 blue copper marans and 1 EE cockerels in the freezer...no one wanted them.
Welcome back! I agree, the hardest part about raising chicks, is the problem of excess cockerels. There's a local small farm animal auction near Webberville, and some of my birds go there. Some go to homes, and I'm sure some go to the freezer. That's fine, can't be helped. Providing a good dinner is not a bad thing!
My bantam boys are more difficult, IMO. A two pound bird isn't much to eat! And too many cockerels in the flock ain't good, so they have to go. It's sad, but my beautiful bantam boys can't all stay. Mary
PS; We need rain! There's either too much, or none. Blast!
Not fond of CL either.....use poultry groups on FB instead.
Getting rain here this morning, finally as it's always seemed to miss us.
Nice, gentle, and steady and supposed to last all morning.
Too little too late for many aspects, but still nice to hear and smell.
Can't say I've missed mowing this summer.
