Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@aart My goals are brown eggs, cold resistance (as I am above the 45 parallel after all), I love the coloring! Eventually, could start breeding.

I am very curious how your Wyandottes/crosses seem to be assertive/aggressive? Every bit of reading/research I have done suggest this breed is docile/friendly.....

What is POL? Sorry in advance regarding my newbie-ness... :)
NP (No Problem) ;) Point Of Lay.

Good reasons, their combs are cool and less chance of frostbite, and they are prettily feathered for sure.

Not sure why they are(were) the way they are(were).
Demeanor(or anything else) is not necessarily a carved in stone breed attribute,
tho there are semi-accurate generalities. Many other factors can contribute to behaviors. Some good breeders will breed aggressiveness out, it can be genetic.
Hatchery birds not so much. You'll just have to see what you see when you see it.

I had a pair of SLW a few years ago. Thought they were sweet birds. Don't remember where I got them from, but not a good stock. One went blind and the other grew sickly. Sickly died one day and the blind one the day after. Very disappointed. They were beautiful birds. My friend who got hers the same time, still has hers. Go figure.

Hi!
Just stumbled upon this thread. I am new to chickens and new to BYC. We just bought a farm this summer - hobby variety, not a working farm. Looking to start my flock and am looking local for Gold Laced Wyandottes - 6 pullets/hens. Can anyone point me to a source instate?

Thanks!
(we live in Boyne)
