Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Another trip to TSC to pick up the stuff I forgot yesterday. New batch of chicks and ducks were in. Once again I resisted temptation.

Stopped at the local CO-OP. They can mill anything that I want for feed. By the bag or by the ton. Plus they have really nice lumber. I have an order for some bluebird boxes. I need to get them built and delivered before the birds start migrating back.

I'll be taking orders for bird houses, feeders, bat houses, and any thing else you might want for Chicken Stock 18. PM me for what you need.

OOPS! 18 chicks name the brooder now. Whoever posted about yellow Easter Eggers, this is al your fault! The tsc in traverse had them as st run, so I got 2 and 2 BR pullets, and the one in Benzonia had SLW pullets and EE pullets so I got 2 of each. Fingers crossed for some sort of blue/lavender coloring on these chickies. These are in adddion to the 10 ISAs and my lone survivor blue Ameraucana.

Additionally, there has been no sign (or smell) on the skunk issue, so I’m hoping they were just passing through.

Well I am headed to TSC in Gaylord on Sat. I hope to resist the temptation. It seems one of my GLW pullets is trying to go broody... she was on a nest all night with her egg under her. I shooed her out this morning, and she is back on the nest this afternoon... Maybe I will try a couple my EE eggs along with a single EE over GLW.... Decisions decisions....I do have a request for a Bob Cockerel offspring.

Does Family Farm and Home have chicks this early? Another place to consider...
Mary
Saw chicks at the FFH last week in Adrian. Think I'm going to wait about another month or so until I get some more. Kinda thinking of easter eggers this year, just depends if I can just get them in pullets or not.

Currently house sitting for one of Amy's coworkers to keep an eye on their dogs. One of them is a big sweetie of a Saint Bernard, and there's the pointer as well.

It's March again...YAY!! This means 2 very important things....hens are laying well again and time for chicks! What started out as 4 Buff Orpingtons 2 years ago has now progressed to 4 Buffs, 1 Barred Rock, 5 silkies, 2 Black Mottled Cochin, 4 Light Brahma, 3 Speckled Sussex, 2 Cream Legbar, 4 Black Copper Maran, 3 Easter Egger, 1 Buff-Barred cross and 2 Austra White....whew!! Lovin the chickens in Mid-Michigan!! Happy chicken-ing Michiganders! :woot
