Not much going on here chicken wise....
....was hot and steamy today, glad day was short(did I really say that out loud?!)
Been wanting to go to bed at like 9:00.

Fed the birds some duck weed out of pondsai today,
would have fed more it if hand't been tangled in with the string algae.

Any building progress RaZ...or y'all getting as much rain as we are here?

Cold and rainy here all day.

Spent most of the day running errands and doing paperwork, and putting off the coop cleaning project. Finally cleaned out one section, only one more section to go. Spread permethrin dust on the floor, and sprayed all the birds tonight. It's been a very difficult year for mites!
I'll comment more on the permethrin thread...
Still too many birds! I'm going to take some nice birds to the auction Oct 20th, sadly. Too nice to eat, so they may find other flocks. I hope.
Randy, it's getting dark too early! It's NOT a good thing!
One of my SS hens is unwell; we'll see how she's doing tomorrow. Darn!

I sold three cockerels today and a young hen-all but two of my surviving orpingtons. The last two are still babies. I'm not sure what I'll be doing with them. I'm glad I didn't have to do the sold cockerels or clean them up after something got them. They are pretty.

This Saturday morning I want to do some drake butchery in the form of two 16+ week muscovy that I procrastinated last time, 2 khaki drakes, and as many young fat ducklings that are obviously male as I can handle. We are going through way too much feed for only 2 eggs/day. Plus, I'm hungry and grumpy. And when I'm hungry and grumpy I butcher stuff. Then I make soups while the meat ages.

I am so lady-like. My mother must be crushed.

Anyone else butchering anything this weekend?
