Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Got the last of the exterior done on the new coop. I think it turned out pretty well using reclaimed and recycled materials. The windows and door were garbage picked. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow. I worked right up until night-fall.

Truss guys were a no-show, AGAIN! I called another contractor and he will be out tomorrow. I hope he wants the job. He lives just around the corner from me so hopefully he will be a good neighbor. :fl Plus, I'm paying in cash.

All in all, it was a productive day. Coop is solid and draft-free. The chicks are in a larger brooder pen and doing well in this cold, damp weather.

I finished the last of the fall coop cleanout today! It's all done, just needs the doubled plastic up for winter. This weekend, if it's not raining all the time.
Another summer, and it's still not stained/ painted! It's Michigan; too hot, too wet, too cold, and now definitely too cold. Maybe in 2019?

We did have a very hot summer. A cold wet fall. Seemed like it rained every weekend. I did get the coop cleaned out last week. Flower beds are put to bed.
Matt, I hope you are feeling better. Take care of yourself. I had pneumonia a few years ago. Took me 5 months to get rid of it. Of course, refused to go to the doctor for a bad cold for a couple of months. Then when I did and the first batch of medicine didn't do the trick and went back, he gave me the same stuff. Third visit, had a nurse and she gave me much stronger meds. Finally got on the road to getting over it. The cough would of gone away faster if the pharmacist didn't forget to give me the cough medicine. When I went back to the nurse, she asked if the cough medicine helped. ?? What cough medicine??? :barnie:he

So sorry RaZ. You must be at the end of patience! I'm always so surprised that companies are so lax on their customer service. See it all the time. Hopefully, your neighbor will step up and get the job done before the snow starts flying.

One thing you have to get used to in smaller towns and rural areas is the pace of life - very different from city/suburb living. Your neighbors become something of an extended family, with complaints but lots of tolerance too. And everything happens at a much slower speed. My neighbor was supposed to come over to cut a few trees down that were menacing my tractor shed and driveway (thanks to Beech Snap disease). And he did finally do it - 2 days ago. But that is just the way it is.

Yes, it's very different in small towns. A favor is one thing, beggars can't be choosy. But, when a business says it will be there, they should. Or call when they can't. My time is worth just as much as theirs. I can't just sit around and wait all day. RaZ isn't asking a neighbor "When you have time" He set date. If it were a good business, they would worry about better customer service.

I haven't met him before. He is a contractor, has a 1/3 page ad in the phone book. He is supposed to stop by after lunch today.
