Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It is so quiet here, right now.
No TV or radio.
Just the fire crackling. The wind blowing outside.
The dogs are sound asleep and gently snoring.
And the parakeets are softly chattering from time to time.

It's nights like this that make me happy I moved to the middle of nowhere.
No traffic noise; no sirens; no neighbors screaming; just the peaceful sounds of Mother Nature.

That's exactly why I'll live in a tent (yurt) in the woods before I'll move to a city! I'm close enough to one as it is!

Going to get my last bit of hunting in this weekend. Hopefully I can fill my doe tag Saturday and have the rest of the weekend to process the deer and pack up the holiday gear. Monday is going to rain all day so I may sneak off and catch a movie (aqua-man) since hubby has to work!

This is the last place that I'll ever live. And after I go pick up my bumpers in a week or so, I'll never venture south of !-69 again.

Living in the woods suits me to a tee. Oddly enough, I've done some volunteer work for the city for a couple of the festivals and got to know quite a few people. Working part time at the lumber yard has helped too.

I find it amusing that the rumor mill is a full time occupation for a lot of people around here. They all know more about me than I do myself.

I'm afraid that I have one chicken who is either suicidal or extremely stupid.
The heated water fount is suspended by a chain. I took it down to refill. When I took the fount back out I found a pullet hanging from said chain. She had an entire link caught in her mouth and was hanging several inches above the floor. She had to have jumped up and tied to swallow the chain.
Fortunately, I gathered her up and extracted the chain. Stupid bird is fine. No real harm was done.

And I learned a lesson. NEVER leave anything loose or dangling in the chicken coop. Not even for a minute.
