Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My thermostat does not have an On/Off switch. I just set it at the lowest setting, 60.
Windows are half closed and I have lots of blankies.

My friend has a theory that ever since they chilled my body for surgery I am more affected by low temperatures. She might be on to something there. I was frozen for 16-18 hours for that procedure.
2 of my 3 thermostats can be turned off, but I shut down whole furnace, electric and gas, in the summer.

They froze you for 18 hours?!?!
I guess that could change things, for sure.

This is an old house so some of the electrics are goofy. The furnace and well pump are wired directly. The only way to turn them off is to pull the main. The way they are currently (no pun intended) connected prevents me from using my portable generator to run them when the power goes out. I really need a complete re-wire job here but that is not in the foreseeable future. Life in the woods, eh?

For the surgery, they put my body on a chiller of some sort to drop the core temp to 50-55 degrees to give the surgeon more time to disconnect my heart then reattach it to the new plumbing that they installed. I don't know all of the details, I slept through the procedure. ;)

Are they on separate breakers?
Mine was built in 1976, but has a good breaker box. Hot water heat system has 3 zones with separate pumps and a electrical shutoff for all 3 pumps.

A friend and I went together on our April 9th chick order from Cackle. She got 'lucky' and has two unexpected cockerels, an beautiful mostly red EE and a Buckeye. Near Lansing, or towards Novi where I work. We both have all the rooster we need!!!
The Buckeye is lovely...

Hot enough in the coop(87) to turn on the fan,
but not so hot the birds are panting out in the runs.

Rascal scared up a group of turkeys in the east field.
Mama was chortling and looked like at least a half dozen poults flew up into the trees in the woods, hope they all get reunited.

Same here, think I'm going to try and sell them(5). Don't need to cull any hens this year and not feeling up to slaughtering.
