Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good morning Michigan!

So, I have need of rehoming some Pekins. Free if nearby homes. I am mid-lower Thumb area.

They are all drakes...5 months old. I ended up with SIX drakes in my mixed flock of 9 ducks. Rehoming the Pekins since I have a matched pair of runners and of Rouens and a lone female KC.

Kids are too "attached" to eat the ducks (chickens not so much lol). Once they are rehomed, kids won't know if they get eaten lol. Processor nearby does $2 a bird if that is helpful.

Let me know if you are interested somewhere relatively nearby. Ugh thanx.

I have a few younger hens almost at POL, though the fox killed a number of those as well. The problem is the fox is being encouraged by the neighbor, he feeds her in winter. (so he says)

I think after this last group of hens are past laying I will stop with chickens for a while. That, or I'm thinking about a hoop tractor so I can let them out still (eggs are so much tastier) They got my last Uggo hen that I've had for a long time... :(

But on a happy note, we got our shop all done outside. Siding is up, building inspector approved. We're having the builder come back to install one more window on the other end and then it's on to the Ele and gas (DH is going to install a furnace!).

And

This little guy will be coming home in October!

What a doll!

Geez isn't "feeding predator wildlife" reportable if not illegal? I would look into that at least for your area!

Pullets started to lay eggs well at least one is so far. About a month ahead of schedule.
Also woke up to the awful nose burning aroma of skunk wafting in through the windows of my house at 5:30 this morning. I'm not sure what ticked off pepe this morning but it happened in my yard. Just glad my dog didn't get sprayed. :sick

Oh, I hate when that happens!!
Crazy how it can wake you out of a dead sleep...
....worse when the attic fan is on and it's hot as hades outside

Just glad my dog didn't get sprayed.
Yah, fer sure!..
.....and it's just a squirt and not a smash on the road right in front of your house!
