The rain has stopped.

...and the heat is gone!!
Got lots of plans for the cool wave...first up is changing out coop bedding and putting up the rest of the shade cloths.
....and cooking lasagna, soup, and bread.

Where the heck is @RaZ ?

Thank goodness it's cooled off, we're not quite prepared for 80+ up here yet. Now I can finish mowing the grass without ending up with heat stroke.
I've got a broody sitting on eggs. Tomorrow will be two weeks, and I would love to candle but I can't seem to stay up late enough for it to be dark outside now that it stays light until 10.

I was on a deep undercover mission.
OK, I was really sleeping deep under covers. It got down to 47'F last night. All the windows are open. I'm not going to close them until October. Bring on the heat!

Not much to report this week. I worked on Monday and got a full 8 hours in. Time and a half plus 5 hours of holiday pay. Made more that one day than I have for the past 3 weeks. They keep delaying the trucks so we usually get sent home early. Met the CEO on Thursday. I caught his attention with my tie-dyed face mask. I asked him why we weren't opening before Forth of July Holiday. His reply made sense but I think he is under estimating our capability.

Bird report.
I think I chased away the tanager with my groundwork on that side of the house. Hummingbirds have consumed a gallon on nectar so far. Time to make a new batch. Those males can sure be territorial. It's fun to watch then chase each other away.
Wild turkey hens are coming in and hanging with the chickens.
I heard a whippoorwill the other morning. First time I've heard one. Haven't seen it yet.

Lots of dragonflies and toads around. I hope to finish planting the garden today. I had a rain delay. I foolishly bought a mixed flat of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.

Got a clean bill of health from my PCP. However, we still haven't isolated the source of pain or the nerve issue. Going in for an echo, EKG, and stress test next week. I should cut back on the smokes and beer. Nah.

That's about the time heard the whippoorwill yesterday. I've never heard one before.
I planted about 50 veggie plants today and the chickens helped.

My chickens have completely demolished whole sections of my gardens and so are now banned from all of them.

No. I shooed them out as soon as they got there. I fence the garden to keep them and the wild life out.
