Day 1 of chickens and we got our first egg! I guess they must like the coop! It's a soft shell but those are normal for a little while when they start laying, correct? We do have all flock feed since we weren't sure if they would be laying just yet with oyster shell and grit on the side.

I'd guess it's about the stress of moving today, and should straighten out over time. We haven't had any soft shelled pullet eggs here so far.

I thought that could be it--it would make sense given the road trip and then moving into the new home. I'm excited that Momo's already laying! And yes, we already named them--Momo is the darker one and Tamago is the lighter.

I almost asked, where in the mitten are you? But she could be from the UP. I never mean to dis the UP. I've had a lot of wonderful trips and adventures there. Hubby would love to move there (actually, he has his sights set on Alaska), but I like my Zone 5 for gardening.
