Zoom in to see some old time shells - somewhere around 430 million years old!

I remember hearing "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" a LOT on the radio. Someone at school said it was "melodically boring," and someone else chimed in with, no, the music rises and falls and rolls like big waves. I thought that was a good description.

Twenty-some years ago, my husband and I were on a trip in the UP. We stopped at a museum in Paradise where they had a huge fresnel lens on display. And a lot of stuff about the Edmund Fitzgerald, with that song playing in the background.

We just got a log splitter about a month ago. We've rented one several times, but it is so much nicer to be able to split wood on your own schedule. That thing is a beast; it will probably outlast us and be passed on to someone else when we shuffle off this mortal coil.
A rather big expense to start with but well worth it in the long run. I'd say that mine has paid for itself several times over.

It is. Two different diameters. Engine output shaft is 0.875 and the pump side is 0.500. One was $9 and the other was 12 bucks. Pretty cheap given the amount of work they do together.
Was it hard to get at?

So I had a chicken that managed to get out of the run.
I tried to get her back in the pen but she ran into the woods.
Half hour later I hear noise on the porch...I open the door to get her AND she shoots into the house.
House guest for the night?

After a night by that toasty woodstove, she won't want to go back to the coop!

Love your slate hearth and your wood floor too.
