I know... Sometimes I just ask things "out loud" while typing.

Once I was looking for a long necked funnel for bottling kombucha, so that the bottom of the funnel would reach the bottom of the bottle and not make so much foam. I figured that home brewers would need something like that. So I looked up long necked funnels for bottling beer. All I found were bongs.

Stepmom thinks our house is too "rustic," I believe. She was surprised other people lived out here year round, that it wasn't just a summer cottage. Hubby's family was big into backpacking, she thinks Holiday Inn without room service is roughing it.

Best keep her out of the UP I'm not sure you can get room service anywhere north of the Bridge

Definitely takes some practice....and frozen ground is a huge plus.
I can't leave a pack, it turns to ice then I can't get up the hill to the road.
Is the lift on the thrower hydraulic?
Mine is electric and being able to tweak the height on the run helps a bunch.

I have the opposite problem. My road is down slope from the house and the garage. If the drive gets too icy I can't even climb the hill in 4WD. And it does get icy. A little bi of sun turns the driveway into a game of "Chutes and Ladders".

Yep, that's why I scrape it down the to gravel...and try to never drive on it until said scraping is done.

Ditto! Warmer temps next week are gonna be a mixed blessing for just this reason. At least when it's <10, the snow doesn't really pack.

But I'd really rather have the warmer temps.

I stopped at TSC yesterday. No chicks yet but they have a very cool brooder system being set up. Stacked units made with plexiglass walls so you can see inside. No more watering trough brooders that were hardly maintained.

There wasn't a worker around to ask any questions like what is the heat source or how the chicks will be watered and fed. I'll have to go back with my camera and see if I can get information. It looks like it should be a good system.

I better stock up on dog and chicken food before my local TSC has chicks. Then I won't have to go there when the adorable little fluffbutts are calling me over.

At least until I'm ready for them. Then they can sing their siren song of cuteness and I will walk to them, mind blank, checkbook out.
