Can the podiatrist prescribe good shoes?I saw my podiatrist today and she said that bone growth generator worked. X-ray will confirm that. Plus she gave me a nerve-block injection to ease the pain from the neuropathy. I still have to be careful with all the walking I do each day. I'm averaging 20,000 steps a day.
Is there a special reason to band them?Should be getting some chicks in the next few weeks.
Am torn about putting them outside right off the bat,
or taking the half day it takes to set up the brooder(after clearing the space).
Want to take a good look at them and get them all banded,
which is much easier for my creaky body to do in the brooder.
I did not know chickens had to be vaccinated. I got them at Home and Farm and nobody mentioned anything. Do I have to find a place for a vaccine?Mine start in the garage, separated from the flock, for the two weeks it takes for their Marek's disease vaccine to take effect. Don't have Marek's here, but if it arrives, the vaccinated hatchery chicks will be better off.
Ours are coming in mid-April, not so far away!
Hoping for a broody hen or two by then...

I learned this from my adoptive mom " Better to do business with unknown people than with family" I applied it to everything. I proved to be so right. My older sister, once my father adopted me and died, the court said that his will was no longer valid due to my adoption and I needed to be part of the inheritance. I was probably like 14 and the division was 3 properties for me and my sister. I never got a penny. Now that she is a doctor, she sends me money once in a while and I take it.Please let me know!
Thank you, I'm gonna start checking into things. Horrible that i have to deal with my grandparents like this.
Will get that tomorrow. I am done for today.get a package of electrolytes (tractor supply has) and add to their water. They could be stressed from getting chilled, shipped etc.
I band them to keep track of each bird, year by year, especially when I have hatched from a certain cross. Is there a special reason to band them?
