Mereks vaccine needs to be given when the chicks are just a few days old Many hatcheries will vaccinate for about 25cents per chick. At least that is what it used to be :) You can buy the vaccine if you hatch your own.
Hope everyone had a great day, no rain or snow here yet, but cold

Snow here this morning. About an inch. The county had the roads plowed before I went to work.

Chickens weren't that happy/ I'm out of feed and the snow made foraging more difficult. I made oatmeal and cooked beans for the birds when I got home. Making more beans and stuff for them for tomorrow. I'll get feed on Thursday when I get paid.

I hate living this close to the edge. Dog is happy, she's getting lots of eggs to eat.

I think we're in the third winter?
😂

There was snow flying out there today.

I was not asked unless they do it automatically and it is included on their price????

Eggs will give them gas right? I hear you. It is always hard almost at the end. Do you cook the oatmeal or give them the oats as they come?

OK, All caught up again. day was too short. Had a call from Ann Arbor and made another appointment with a PCP out there since I am going for my 2nd Covid vaccine. Had a long talk with my sister and she assured me that it was not the long travel but the vaccine. That I need to start at least 24hrs before my next one with ibuprofen 400 mg every 8 hours and that will not allow for me to get any fever or any other side effects. She is a pest sometimes but I am happy to have a doctor ion the family, :idunno

Changed the water thing on the girls. They drive me crazy always pooping on it, so I made a small hole in one of the water bottles and made a crochet thingy-maggigy and is hanging so there is no more messes.
I moved the lamp because it is not for heating purposes anymore, and added a wyze v3 camera. Now I can see them live on my phone no matter where I am at, :lau:yesss:

Also began putting the squares together for my bed cover, Pictures will follow once I am done but will take me a bit. Tomorrow is Pixie's day for grooming so that will take me about all day and maybe some of the next. There is not much I can do for the machine from getting hot and I like to give her breaks in between.

Chicken food was boiled oatmeal (Quick Oats) and dried beans. Gave it to them after it had cooled and wouldn't burn them.

Never had a dog get gas from eating eggs. I've given them eggs raw, boiled, fried, and left-over from my plate. Sometimes daily sustenance is a treat.

It is sunny and high 60's today for where I'm at. Super excited to get outdoors with the animals. Probably will start a campfire and split some wood from all the dead trees around here.

Possibly go to menards while I'm at it looking for building material for a new project
