Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

At least you have a nice weekend to do the work. :thumbsup

I need to get my butt in gear and make TP roll pots for all the plants I want to start. Probably do that next week when it'll be rainy. Or so the weather people say. It's been really dry here, so I am hoping they're right.

Good Morning Hello GIF
GOOD MORNING 🌞
:lol::gig:lau

Tomorrow is the Equinox!
Did you know the Equilux was the 17th?
Day length was 12:01:34.

Today will be 12:07:19 long.
Tomorrow will be 12:10:11.

Now why don't the weather people on the local news ever mention Equilux? They've made "polar vortex" and "lake effect" common, every day words!

And why is whatever word/spelling program on here underlining Equilux, but not Equinox??

Harrumph.

There's a lot to learn about chicken housing,
it's like getting a drink of water out of a fire hose.

I spent 6 months reading here almost full time before deciding waht to do and more importantly what not to do....and I am an experienced designer.
:gigIt truly is! I never knew there was SO MUCH to learn just about chickens! I've never kept chickens, but have been on here for almost a year just learning.

Could you upload a picture of these TP roll pots? You have me intrigued!

Here's a link that shows how to make them.

I like them because they're free, they decompose, and they can all sit together in a container and hold each other up. And, did I mention they're free? :)

I also like that they're small, so they don't take a ton of potting soil to fill. If the plant outgrows it, you can pot up if you need to. If it comes to harden off time and they're still in the TP pots, you can move a bunch of plants outside to start hardening off with one trip.

I plan to have 50-60 tomato plants this year, so it'll save me a lot of potting soil. (I make my own, but still.)

Done this and they work so good. I also collect the paper towels rolls too. I do have to cut those but they are free because I paid for the paper that I had already used, ;)
That's a lot of tomatoes. I usually get about 10 and that is more than enough for me. But now that you mentioned it and have more space, I can do more and maybe take them to the farmer's market, 🤔

I want to do bell peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic, pumpkins, squash and need to find super sweet corn to give it a try. and usual herbs like Oregano, mint, basil, cilantro and scallions. I would like to try hoffa? the thing they make loofa sponges with, yeah that one.

I know I was kind of MIA after I got you all so tired of having me around so often. But yesterday was picture day. It was two weeks since I got the girls. I am so crazy about them. So, here is the new story of my chicks.
Of course I have to start with the new and official CoopBouncer, Pixie. She found a better way to just stare and enjoy the chicks.

Then we have them all eating as being guarded by the CoopBouncer. They got a treat thing hanging there and they love it.
