Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

A little catch up for you all!
No electricity in the coop yet but found a long extension that I could take the plug out and ran it from the house into the coop. Ran it through a PVC pipe and into a clear dollar store container. 20210523_133737.jpg 20210523_133751.jpg
The plugged the lamp and placed it in the middle part of the coop on the top.

I did not like that so I nailed it to make sure it was secure enough not to fall.

Placed the dog crate inside for the little ones. But they figure out to get on top of it.

Placed a board on top so they would not poop on top of the Seabrights and they were in for a few days.

I also placed the nesting boxes and blocked them. (Yes Raz all nice and white but it is no longer clean, lol) 20210526_193645.jpg
And yes, they drink bottled water. Keep a few handy just in case but always bring some outside every other day.

However, I felt that it was not fair for the little ones to be enclosed, so I moved them to what I call the loft, lol They watch everyone from above, lol

And they love to get in front of the camera!

That's permethrin...good to use if you have mites or lice.....do not use it as a 'preventative'.
I only put some in the surrounding area of my entrance where we found the tick. Have not used on any of the animals. My dog has medicine and if they get on her, they will die once they try her blood. Thank you aart! :love

Hope everyone enjoyed Memorial day weekend!
My ladies did some free range. But it was a headache to get them back inside. 20210531_175240.jpg
The Seabrights also went out but stayed by a corner away from everyone.

They decided to make a hole next to me even though they had plenty of space.

Every so often they all play around to get close to the little ones.

They are outside this afternoon too. They can find any hole I have not covered and escape. I have to keep going out to get them in and fix them.
After all this work, they better give me plenty but plenty of eggs!:lau:lau

Yesterday, our dog Mara had several grand mal seizures. We took her to Animal Emergency Hospital in Grand Rapids. Things were not good, and we chose to say goodbye to our lovely girl this afternoon.
:hugs :hugs :hugs
Condolences....

We know from the minute we let them into our hearts, that one day they will break them.
The joy we gain by loving them will, in time, once again outweigh the sadness they can bring to our lives.

I cleared the area around my dogs graves the other day.
