I’m thinking about taking the littles into the big girl coop tomorrow while in their pack-n-play to keep them secure. Or, I was thinking about cutting a cardboard piece out big enough for them to run through and start to integrate them with the other big girls. I would obviously by watching the whole time, but I would like to see how they would start reacting to each other. They are also the 5 weeks. Any suggestions?

Is it too soon?I also have a dog crate I can use with the p-n-p to extent their space but im afraid the bigs will be able to get their heads in there and peck on the littles. The life of a blended chicken family :fl

Yesterday they said there was an 80% chance of rain. So guess what I didn't get any of? Drove the car to work instead of taking the bike. Picked up a bag of feed at TSC. That store really seems to be struggling. Every business around here is hurting for help. Maybe if they started paying a decent wage...

My woods has been devastated by these stinking gypsy moths. My house, garage, and vehicles are covered with frass, chewed leaf bits, silk threads, living and dead caterpillars. I can't keep up with cleaning up the mess. :barnie

There is a car show this weekend at the next town over. I want to get the car shined up and go. I missed the car shows last year that were all canceled. It will be nice to see the old cars again.

well, had planned a lot of yard work for today, so far every time I go out it starts to pour. I know we need the rain , but some how it is supposed to come when I am sleeping, not when I want to weed and trim bushes. :(.
So I have also integrated littles on a warm day by putting them in the yard, in a fenced off area so the hens can come and look and check them out. If the chicks can get away into a safe spot the hens seem to ignore the chicks for the most part.

How do you frizzle an EE?
An EE is a mish-mash of breeds generally. We had a frizzle cochin 12 years ago that bred an Ameracauna hen. We kept breeding the gene back to Ameracauna and this is the result. That means we've had frizzled chickens for 12 years already....wow time flies, it sure hasn't seemed that long.
Did not know EE came frizzled! Cute!
Yep, ours do and we have a couple that lay very nice blue-ish eggs, more blue than green.
