Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

A friend came up yesterday to help me get the stuff in the garage ready for a sale. Hopefully I can get it ready soon. I was shooting for July 4th weekend but I have to work the whole weekend. I need to get rid of this junk, it's overwhelming. Plus I need any cash I can get from it.

I applied for Social Security but I guess it takes a month or so. All I know is that I can't keep working where I am. Tore something in my shoulder recently and my broken foot is acting up again. If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself. :old

There has been a nice steady rain all day so far. We sure need it here. I feel bad for the farmers.. The fields are parched. The only down side of the rain is all the caterpillar poop on the deck. It's a slippery, gooey mess.

The critters are all doing well.
I know several people that have a lot of luck selling things on facebook might try that

The 4th will not be a good idea. People do not go garage sale but to camping and fun stuff. If you can before then it might be a good idea, so they can spend some money before going camping.

Dream, did you say you live up near Luddington? My daughter is in a 100 mile race there tomorrow, how much rain are you getting?
Not much. It is like constant rain but not torrential or like it can fall from the rooftop like a waterfall. It is very wet. It just stopped around 4pm but it will be like that all weekend into next week. I am about 40 minutes or so to Ludington. I want to go there and just lurke around to see the town.

You can also try not just FB but craigslist as well. I have done well on Craigslist

@aart These are the pictures I took earlier this morning. The closest to the hardware cloth is from the roof end before the aluminum on top. Then the line between the little green is from the end of aluminum. On the third pic, the is about a quarter in separation from coop roof end to the gutter.

However, I did noticed like something was trying to go under kind of digging. Have no idea of what could have been. Funny, the hardware cloth is only around 2 sides under the coop and the other 2 sides are wide open.

Rachel is laying double time? Right under she roosts, there was another broken small egg that apparently slipped out during the night. Today as I was out, noticed that around 1140 am through 1213pm she was laying in the nest box. Once the rain stopped (428pm), I went to let them finally out for the day and checked and the egg was broken too. Is it possible that she is laying twice?

They were so wanting to get out of the coop. As soon as I opened the door they just laid under the sun like it was their god, :lau

Even the Seabrights laid as they went out right on the stairs. Which is their new hang out area. They keep me cleaning it constantly so I do not step on their poop,

I am having a melt down. Sleeping through the day with the rain and then awake at night. I do not like it one bit. :rant:rant
I have read all of the comments and advices. It has been just raining constantly and I have not been able to do much out there.. I have no clue how to make a drainage away from both buildings. If I can, one side it is towards the garage side of the house and the run. The other side is towards the kitchen side of the house and where I would like to do a small outdoor living area one day. I am more convinced that I was not thinking clearly and ahead of placing the coop. There is no way that it can be moved by me nor the Hub. I just wanted it to be very close because of the winter is so brutal and I can throw some electricity unto it with a good outdoor extension. :he :he :he :he

Hey everyone. Anyone know if there are any fairs to look out for to buy hens or growing pullets? From the 4 chicks I got, two are Roos and looking to replace them. Saw some being sold on CL, but would like to see if I can find another Lavander or Buff Orpington.
I know about one in Newaygo but might be a bit off your area. Check here. There should be info of all Michigan areas.
