It's cold here too tonight, nice to be inside.
We have a fireplace insert and love it! Helps with the propane, and is such nice heat.
@RaZ , you might be able to order doors with glass for your new wood stove, if you look online. Ours do get covered in smoke and 'goo', but still can see the fire, very nice.

I'll have to try that. Mary. Right now I have the fire going and the doors are fully open. After my early first fire back-fed smoke into the house I think I have the procedure figured out. If leaving the doors open while I in the room doesn't cause any problems then I won't have to look for glass doors. I think the fire burns more efficiently when the doors are closed. I shut and secure the doors when I go to bed or go outside for any reason. I'd like to find an owner's manual or spec sheet for this unit.

Bright and sunny now after a wind driven snow early this morning. While waiting in line for the food pantry, the snow was coming down sideways. It is supposed to go below zero tonight.

I'm glad this is allowance week. I used the last of my wild bird seed, suet, and peanuts. I have enough gas to get to work tomorrow. Hopefully enough to get me back home. Next work day is Thursday but allowance day is Wednesday so I can fuel up then. And buy beer.

Wood stoves are much less efficient when they burn with the door open. In addition it exponentially increases the fire risk. Hope you keep a bucket of sand in the room. Probably not safe to leave the room even for a few minutes.

Doors are only open when I am there by the stove. I have fire suppression equipment everywhere. Even in the coop and garage. I hope everyone has something close at hand in case of a fire.

I love the thought of a wood fireplace! I think is romantic and cozy even by one's self. Just a warm cup of cocoa and not the chocolates they sell at stores which are just watered chocolate and a good book sounds so peaceful. ok, I am awake. Not happening.
Hot cocoa I call it which is heated milk and grated chocolate into it with a pinch of sugar. We used to have it when little and a chunk of gouda cheese. It was like heaven. Anyways, back to reality!

It has been pretty cold here. Today it barely made it to 10. Inside the coop was 21 and the outside cage at 16. The girls on both sides are still good. However, little mama sebright decided to go broody again. I got her out yesterday and locked teh coop for a while forcing her to eat with the others. I also had her inside with me and we both had some scrambled eggs. It was so cool. I even took video of it but new phone and have no clue how to get that stuff to my computer. Today not so. Hub came home from work at 930 am and I was already showered and ready to jet out. We barely talked and I took off. Came home a few hours later and brought Pizza hut for each. I like ine thin crust and he likes regular hand tossed. And I usually eat all of mine since it is like a pizza cracker,

I have been looking outside a lot now that I know that I can have farm animals. I know, I am crazy. But just entertaining some ideas. I cannot do all that comes to my mind (I wish). Anyways, Just looking at some names for my homestead. I would like to add ducks. I know they are messy so I am not sure. I do like the eggs. And the meat too. Now I am not sure now about a small goat. I do like their meat but I also like beef but do not want a big cow. I also like pig and it is another thing I am not sure about.

I would like to get a barn in the east side close to the fence but not to close so I an run an electric fence around. Then I would have to move the chicken coop towards the back as well. Right now it is sitting almost on the water pump but I do not use that water, so I am not worry about it. I use bottle water for drinking and cooking everything starting with coffee. So I am just day dreaming around. I also thought of getting some crested cream legbars to get blue eggs but still not sure. I want to be able to hop in my truck and drive to Indiana at times. Having animals will not let me be as free as I need. Oh, well, just dreaming like I said.

On the other hand, so far no dizziness. Went to drum fit on Thrusday night and it was so freaking hard. I have lost so much strength! Hope I can build it up again. I am taking classes for cooking. Hoping they teach me how to change the flavors of vegetables, and yoga. Never done it so let's see what happens. I sure will come and let you all know.
I must go now. I decidd to start gray's anatomy again and I am on season 2. At least until the begin airing season 19 again. I love you all.

Dream
I rescued two crested cream legbars. Haven't laid any eggs yet. They looked so scrawny when I got them, but they have filled out and are so pretty.

If you get goats or cows, get at least two. They are herd animals needing each other as much as chickens are flock animals needing each other.

Toasty 10 degrees with blissfully no wind this am, birds were very happy to come out after 2 days of confinement. Threw down a flake of straw and they are busy girls.
