2021 Cubalaya rooster. His tail is longer than normal for Cubalaya.

I'm not sure when the crows left but it has been several days. As a result, I lost a duck to a hawk yesterday. Not long before sunset, a red tail hit my khaki Campbell and did her in. I feel bad about the loss but the hawk earned that meal. My Chanty rooster failed to do his duty. He was hiding under the porch. Damn roo hid even after the hawk left.

I guess the word is out now. I came back from the car show today and scared away a pair of RT hawks. Fortunately no other birds were attacked. I guess it's now time to cease letting the poultry free-range. I hate when things like this happen.

@Folly's place, @Dreamzchaser, and I had an... interesting? challenging? exciting? day yesterday. It's on the web, somewhere. Someone was recording the event.

We met at the Goodwill on Clark Street in Dewitt. I bought Mary's roo, Jerry, and let's say, the transfer didn't go smoothly. Jerry escaped and ran around for about 20 minutes in the parking lot. Several people joined in the chase, including an employee from Goodwill, who finally caught Jerry by getting a large plastic tote over him.

If you were the person recording the event with your phone, let us know! I'm sure it was funny!

It's funny now, but it was scary at the time. Clark is a busy road (less so on Sunday afternoon, but still), and Jerry did get close to it, though not in it. Whew.

Jerry's name is now Snowbird. He's a big guy, a beautiful white Chantecler. He has a crow that sounds a bit like a baby elephant. Adorable!

Yes, it was scary, and I was the idiot who couldn't hold on to him, transferring from my crate to Sally's. Embarrassing, and turned out well, thanks to strangers who helped corral him and the guy who moved fast and made the capture. Whew again!
He'll be the only roo at Sally's, not the junior he was here. A big move up in his world.
Mary

I was just wondering who was going to break the silence, :lau

Yes, very scary situation and yet funny. Who would have thought their trip to a goodwill store will get them into a 3 crazy chicken ladies after a roo in the parking lot,

I have been searching everywhere to find that video. I will not give up. Someone has post it somewhere. It will turn up for sure.

May, it is OK. He is a big heavy bird and the wings was not a steady way. Always by the legs. If the flap, they will end un upside down, 🙃 Besides, your chickens are not really pets that will sit on your lap all the time. He was scared and he ran for it and gave us and a few other people the exercise for the day.
