Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My husband is a Lineman for DTE in SE Mich. He said there's 433k without power! He's going to be working major overtime the rest of the week (and we were supposed to leave for Mackinac Island tomorrow - just gonna be me and the kids now 🙃) #linewifelife
We lost power, but the storm had been done and gone for hours! We barely even had any wind. Right after it went off, we heard a bang in the distance, so probably not storm related. Our outages here seem to be really random.

Hello my fellow Michiganders! I'm new to officially being a BYC member, I've been referring to it for years lol, but just joined. I just wanted to say, HI and give a quick intro. I am the proud mama of 22 beautiful Pullets, I also Have 26 Ducks and a Pig named Bacon! 😁 Hello to you all and I look forward to this journey, learning and sharing information with everyone!

Sounds like a transformer blew or something?! My mom just lost power about 3 hrs ago. I think when big outages happen, they sometimes have to shut down whole "grids" (even houses that didn't lose power) in order to safely work on the problem. When we built our house, it was a top priority to have a whole house generator - worth every penny (especially bcs we have a well/septic). Hope your power is back soon!!

Welcome!! Glad you've officially joined BYC and happy to see another Michigander in the mix! 🤗 :frow

We got hit with lots of wind and 2-3" of rain in the storm. We lost power for about 6 hours. Lots of tree limbs down, but I didn't see any large trees down. a few of the standing (long) dead ones along our road came down, but I don't count those.

Snowbird update: I saw and heard him tidbitting for the hens today. :thumbsup He's a good boy. I tell him he's my beautiful big man.

I replaced the tarp that was over half of the run roof. The light weight one I put up a year ago held up surprisingly well, but I replaced it yesterday with a heavy duty one. I was thinking I'd put up a sheet metal roof.... but.... didn't get around to it. So much else going on this summer.

I forgot to mention that it came back on at some point while we were sleeping. The outage map had nothing around us. Just our road. I hope to get a generator within the next year just to run fridge, freezer, and well (and emergency heat if it's winter).
