Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I had to call in to work today. Jeep is out of commission and I don't know what the problem is. I am going to take it to my mechanic to pull the codes. That is if it starts and can drive the 5 miles to the shop. I fear the worst for it. This is the first day I've missed work since I was in the hospital last year. I think October is a cursed month for me.
Yesterday I drove the old car to work since I had committed to give a ride to a co-worker. Betty has no heat and it was cold and rainy. On the way home she threw a wiper blade. With the Jeep in the garage the LTD is sitting outside in the rain with leaves stuck all over. A shameful way to treat a classic car. :(

Still sitting here without a working furnace. Have an appointment with the county service for Nov. 2 to file an application for assistance. Then wait for approval (if granted). Might not have a furnace until December. Is it spring yet? :he

Crappy weather through Wednesday, and then we turn the corner. Possibly 70 (!) on Sunday. Next weekend will be a good time to get some more outdoor stuff done.

Since we have mainly oak trees, they don't shed their leaves until about November. Only they shed about half. And the rest come down during the winter and what's left come off in the spring.

Has anybody else noticed how MUCH the white pines are shedding this year? One spot I've raked twice looks like it hasn't been raked, and there are still a lot of brown needles on the trees.

Miss May, one of my blue (?) Australorps (?) has been bare backed since last spring. I think Darl mating her and her feathers being weak was the cause. I kept thinking that when she molted, she'd grow them back. FINALLY it looks like there are feathers growing there!

They're all molting, some looking worse than others. They're getting some salmon in their mash snack today.

My buddy came over and we got the alternator off the Jeep. He called his parts store and got me a new one at his discounted price. I can go get tomorrow.
Then we came in and tinkered with the washer. After finally figuring out how to get the front cover off it was apparent that the pump is leaking at the hose. Took that off to get a replacement tomorrow.

After a smoke break I tackled the fill valve in the toilet. New unit installed with no leaks. So far. :fl With so much crud build up on the old valve I looked at the washer pump. Plastic PoS. The rubber flapper is coated with crud. Brushed off a bunch and it is soaking in vinegar. That might be the problem. I'll try it after a good long soak. Fingers crossed that fixes it and I don't have to buy anything. Even softened well water is hard on appliances.
