Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

So much for decent weather today. It has been cloudy with showers off and on. Too yucky to wash the cars so I cut and split wood. Just need to stack it. I marked 5 downed trees to cut and drag out of the woods. Times like this I wish I had a helper.

Does anyone have a way to fatten up a cat. She is 12+ YO and has diabetes. She weighs just 4 pounds and is walking skeleton. She eats well, both wet and dry food. She purrs just by looking at her. Other than being so skinny she is healthy.

If she's eating well and acting normal I wouldn't worry too much. My daughter pet-sat for a super skinny old cat (19, I think) and she was normal. Just make sure the food is good for her, too many foods are garbage. Cats also hide pain incredibly well. My 10-yo Himalayan had really bad teeth, so we forked over the money to get her dental done. She had 11 teeth pulled and only has 9 left. I didn't realize how much pain she had been in because she's acting like a kitten again!

If she has diabetes, her weight loss is due to not enough Insulin (not producing enough, or not enough if you are giving it), leading to inability to utilize what she eats for fuel. No matter what is fed, if there is not enough insulin she will literally waste away. So sorry! Give her the best quality food you can afford (Purina DM would be a good choice), and enjoy her while you have her.
