Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Congrats on the new job! That's awesome! And your cats and roosters are beautiful! What breed or mutt are your roos do you know?
The roosters are Ayam Cemani and Australorp mixes. Their combs/wattles are much darker thanks to the AC in them, but their skin is pink under their feathers. Their legs look a mess because they had scaley leg mites when I got them, but they have been treated for it and I'm hoping some of the ugliness will shed off after their moult. They are slightly smaller than standard size and they are the BEST boys! Neither of them have spurs... I'm not sure if they were removed at some point or if they just never developed.

Making cranberry, blueberry, and plums jams for a 4h project! Man is it a process! Especially for the plum one, which after I combine the plums and sugar and let that sit for an hour, I have to boil it, then simmer for 10 minutes, then let it cool to room temperature- but I have to repeat that step 4 times!!! :barnie

My goodness! Why do you have to do all that? I've never made plum jam.

Lol I have no idea! I think because the recipe is a no-peeling needed recipe and you have to boil it down so much in order for it to get a jammy consistency and to dissolve the peels more? 😆

Kinda makes me want to start canning. But I swore I was going to take a year off after all the canning I did last year... approximately 800 jars 🫣 Plus the stuff that I put up in the freezer.
I usually make spiced blueberry peach jam every year. My hubby's favorite.
