Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

YES! THANK YOU!!!
We have another event, the Midwest Ox Drover's annual meeting, the weekend after father's day, and this year folks from Germany are coming too, and DH must be there!
And so I'm delighted to be with you all on the 13th!

Extra chicks needed a new home, anyone interested?
Hatched mid September, from Townline hatchery. Listed as porcelain Belgian d'Uccles, although they aren't bearded. A pair, very cute, but not needed here.

Ducks are a whole different story. They thrive in cold weather and snow. They basically only need a protected shelter to go into at night. They are also extremely messy, so I'm not sure a wooden floor would be a real great idea, they might do better just on dirt. Instead of a hoop coop, you might think about an A-frame shelter.
Mine do great in an old goat house I built years ago. Wooden floor works great and keeps critters out at night. Just keep it clean.

Thanks John always nice to hear The voice of experience
I find the biggest piece of mind is closing them in at night. In the summer it’s always fun to herd them in from their pond sonce they are the opposite of chickens and don’t just go in and roost.
