My mom really liked swing, she had dozens and dozens of cds. Some of my favorites were her Glenn Miller ones. I'm hoping my sister hung onto those.

My one and only time I danced to disco was in boot camp. The USO had a dance for us one night at one of the clubs. A red headed guy from Texas I think, asked me to dance and when I said I had no idea how he offered to show me and wouldn't take no for an answer. I honestly cannot remember if I was wearing a dress, I don't think it was on the list of stuff to take to boot camp, or if I enjoyed myself all that much. I was probably terrified. It was probably also the first time anyone ever asked me to dance. I was shy and had never gone to a dance in high school. There were a lot of firsts for me that summer.

Can't say that I liked disco music, but it did get the ladies back to wearing dresses at the clubs.

I like all kinds except opera and rap. I'm fond of big band, swing and Texas swing. My collection ranges from Paula Abdul to ZZ Top. Profilers could make a career of me.

If I'm in the coop/garage, my hens are getting music. They used to have cable TV until the TV went kaput.

YAY we're all back again!!

Mostly because I have a question. I feel very silly asking but can you give roosters baby aspirin?

I don't know if anyone remembers but last year at chickenstock there was a very large Jersey Giant rooster in the back of someone's truck.





Well, we took him and his girlfriend home with us. They said that he was so sweet that their other birds picked on him pretty bad and at one point he had a sprained ankle. Well, now we think that has probably turned into arthritis. He still walks and even runs but sometimes he'll throw his legs out front pretty far. He sits on the backs of his legs because I don't think they bend well.








He is definitely very loved around here and we want him comfortable!

I'm having a case of being very impatient. My first set of chicks hit 20 weeks today and I STILL only have an egg a day from our Isa Brown who's been laying consistently now for about 3 weeks. Combs and wattles are super red and full on them...just no eggs. I tried sweet talking them earlier today so we'll see what this week brings. I'm trying to remember that I'll soon have eggs coming out my ears so to be careful what I wish for!

I let my 5 adult guineas out to free range again today with momma 'scovy and her 9 little charges. I looked Out of the corner of my eye I see my dog Ziggy do "something" in the ducklings vicinity. Next thing I know Ziggy was flying across the yard with momma in hot pursuit. She just kept at him. He didn't look all that scared but he didn't seem eager to go back. All ducklings are fine. Ziggy was reprimanded.

That's funny.

So what are y'all into? And do you play any of it to your chickens?

I really like everything from classical to rap. Mostly I listen to Christian rock but I like it all. I'm a "feeler" of music so it doesn't matter much what genre it is.

Hobby Lobby is all decked out in Christmas already!!

That's just insane! I saw Halloween candy out today and thought it was awfully early but I guess it's really only a couple months away.

We were considering fall meaties too and I think that's where we'll get ours since it's only about 45 min away.

Look around for any hidden nests, my Uggos did that when they started. Also try the golf ball in the nest box.

Trying walking around your coop wearing a white suit and mumbling things like "extra crispy" and "finger lickin'". You probably will need a goatee as well if you want to be totally effective in your attempt to stimulate them.

Actually I was talking to my dad the other day about it and he offered to loan me his hatchet. He said I should just walk out there, stare them down and then sink the hatchet in the tree stump and walk away.

Raz - I do walk their entire fenced area each morning and evening to see if they are laying them somewhere but haven't found anything yet. I also haven't tried the golf balls in the nest boxes. Maybe if I put some in there they will be inspired?

Look in other areas of your coop too. My Uggos were laying in the attic after they found the hole in the ceiling that Bryan showed to them. My ISA Browns like a corner on the floor as their usual spot. The BO and big BSL's like the high nest boxes, but it there is a traffic jam, I have to look all over the coop.
