BOTH shipments of eggs came!

Don't know what was up with the not-updated tracking of the one, but I ordered a total of 19, received 26 (!!!), and had 0 broken eggs. YAAAAAY!! Outside temps are pretty much what the inside temps are, so I let them sit for about an hour, and just stuck them in the 'bator. Going to have to keep an eye on humidity until I head to work, and then have DH add a little more water if necessary. Dry, it's running at about 22%, so I added 2oz of water and got it up to 32%. Had at least 2 loose airsacs that I could see with my flashlight, so I'm not going to plug in the auto-turner until we get home from camping on Sunday. I thought about doing it on Friday, but I know I'll have to turn the incubator temp down to compensate for the heat put off by the turner motor, so I figured someone should be home to keep an eye on that. I don't trust my nephew to check on it regularly and adjust it accordingly. And DH thought I was being too gung-ho by turning it on yesterday and fiddling with the temperature settings.

I've got 19 BLRW eggs, 4 Blue Copper Marans eggs, and 3 Mottled Houdan eggs. I'll be happy even if only ONE of those houdan eggs hatches after reading about their apparent 'sensitivity' to hatch and raise.

Is anyone taking chickens to the show in Birch Run this fall? I may want to show a couple araucanas if they keep developing like they are but I don't know anything about showing chickens. We've spent years showing horses but this is totally different.
I'll be attending - there's a lot of threads on here about showing and preparing birds for show, but feel free to PM me if you like, and would love to meet you at the show!

I'm planning on attending the Fowl Fest show this year! Really excited because I've got some nice looking birds and our spring showing went really well winning RV with our white silkie roo. I didn't take any Speckled Sussex to the spring show and regret it...turned out the eggs I donated the year before produced a hen that won reserve in the English class. Makes me feel good to see my birds/chicks/eggs from my produce winners :)

If there are a number of MI peeps that'll be showing at FowlFest, I wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to start a thread with just that subject - thoughts? Anyone else planning to attend?

Although I would love to attend, it is quite some distance from me, and everything always depends on just how my body is holding up. Having a 95 year old back in a 45 year old body isn't fun, and doesn't allow for much planning on such things.

If anyone has a link with more info, I'd like to go. This is my first year with chickens, they're hatchery quality and 13-22 weeks old so I don't know a thing about showing but it'd be fun as a spectator.
